After an excellent effort in his Italian debut, Mark Teahen was hitless in Padua’s second series of the Italian Baseball League season. Tommasin Padua claimed its first victory of the season in the opener, 7-0, before dropping the second contest with Novara, 3-0.
Diego Fabiani tossed six shutout inning to earned the win in the opener, while Teahen was 0-for-4 with a strikeout. In the nightcap, Novara’s Jonathan Aristil was dominant in a six-inning start, whiffing 10 and scattering two hits and a pair of walks. Teahen was 0-for-3 with a walk, dropping his season line to .154/.313/.231. Equally of note is that the former Royal finished the day with an appearance at third base after started at first in all four games.
Next weekend, Padua (1-3) will travel to Rimini (south of Venice) and will hope to even its record. Its success will likely be affected by the contributions of its American star as he ramps up for his first season since 2013.
