It’s that time of year again-the grass just about needs mowing, it’s too cold to enjoy being outside other than mid-afternoon, and coffee is the drink of the day. That means it’s baseball season! Just for fun, I thought I’d attempt the same predictions that appear across every baseball blog at this time of year, and after a long, cold winter of reading MLB Trade Rumors, here’s what I’ve come up with:
AL East – Red Sox
AL Central – White Sox
AL West – Mariners
AL Wild Cards – Indians, Athletics
AL Champion – White Sox
NL East – Nationals
NL Central – Cardinals
NL West – Dodgers
NL Wild Cards – Padres, Marlins
NL Champion – Nationals
World Series – Nationals over White Sox in 6 games
Awards (runner-up in parentheses)
AL MVP – Mike Trout (José Bautista)
NL MVP – Giancarlo Stanton (Bryce Harper)
AL Cy Young – Félix Hernández (Chris Sale)
NL Cy Young – Clayton Kershaw (Max Scherzer)
AL Rookie of the Year – Daniel Norris (Steven Souza)
NL Rookie of the Year – Kris Bryant (Jorge Soler)
AL Comeback Player of the Year – Chris Davis (Prince Fielder)
NL Comeback Player of the Year – Matt Harvey (Joey Votto)
